From the time I watched “Top Gun” I wanted to fly jets. I achieved that goal, then had the capability stripped from me due to a loss of physical, and later, cognitive ability. I am now using my life experience to help others.
I am a Certified Human Potential Coach (CHPC) and a member of the International Coaching Federation. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Science, specializing in Management. I flew the T-37, T-38, F-15C, F-117A, and T-6A military aircraft as well as Piper PA-28 Cherokee, Cessna 172, and Beechcraft Sierra C-24-R civilian aircraft. During my time in the United States Air Force I flew combat missions and helped train others in multiple disciplines. I did this initially as a mother of two young boys and later also as a stepmother to three beautiful girls.
As demanding as both being a parent and military operations were, they didn’t compare to the challenges I experienced as my health declined. Facing a medical community that was not equipped to solve the health challenges of today, and often believed when they didn’t have an answer the problem must be “all in your head”, I suffered in intense pain and varying degrees of physical and cognitive dysfunction for almost a decade. After years of persistence within the walls of the military and conventional allopathic medical system, I took over as my own medical case worker. Through diligent research, and with the help of professionals in the integrative and functional health realms, I was able to uncover the many layers contributing to my health issues within 18 months.
Throughout my journey, I traveled many avenues searching for answers. It was not easy, and at times, it was downright nasty. Environmental illnesses such as those due to mold toxins and electromagnetic fields (EMF) are very real, yet completely disregarded and shunned by the conventional medical realm. Vector-borne diseases, such as Lyme disease, have been politicized and fought over within the medical community leaving millions across the globe suffering in silence. No one should have to experience what I did attempting to get health care.
Dealing with very complicated factors I had to significantly re-shape my life and how I lived. I became passionate about Defining Success for myself. Growing up in what to me was a "cult-like religious environment" then spending 20 years in the military left little room for developing my own beliefs, values and way of life. As I emerged from a bed and house-bound state I knew life was too short to expend energy doing things that didn't inspire me to grow, laugh and love life. Building on the foundation of my own values - continuous Growth in order to Gain understanding so I can serve others with Grace and Grit - it brings me great joy to work with clients who are either forced to make a transition or reach a point in their life where they want to make a change and aren't sure how to do it.
My passions include traveling the world with family, spending time in the Caribbean, enjoying time in the woods, watching Formula 1 racing, playing piano or flute, listening to music, and working my way through a never-ending list of books on a wide variety of topics. I look forward to the opportunity to coach with you.
